A leading Irish mechanical engineering contractor is seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their team based in Castlebar. With a strong reputation for delivering high-quality projects across a wide range of sectors — including healthcare, pharmaceutical, commercial, residential, and data centres — the company continues to grow and expand its footprint across Ireland and internationally.
  
This is a senior-level opportunity offering exposure to both mechanical services and fit-out projects, with a clear pathway towards a Commercial Lead position. The successful candidate will play a key role not only in project delivery, but also in shaping commercial strategy and supporting the continued growth of the business.
  
Responsibilities

• Take full commercial responsibility for multiple mechanical and fit-out projects.
• Manage interim valuations, variations, and final accounts.
• Prepare and report on monthly cost value reconciliations (CVR).
• Oversee cashflow, cost tracking, and margin protection across projects.
• Support senior management in reviewing commercial performance.
• Manage procurement and negotiation of subcontract packages across M&E and fit-out trades.
• Administer subcontract agreements, payments, and final accounts.
• Contribute to tender reviews, pricing strategies, and pre-construction planning.
• Identify and manage commercial risks, variations, and contractual obligations.
• Mentor and support junior commercial team members.
• Drive consistency in commercial processes and reporting across projects.

 Requirements

• Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying or related discipline.
• 5+ years’ experience in a similar role, ideally within mechanical or building services.
• Strong understanding of both M&E contracts and fit-out project delivery.
• Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
• Excellent commercial awareness and reporting capability.
• Strong Excel and systems knowledge.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership skills.
• Full clean driver’s licence.

  Package

• €75,000 - €85,000 DOE
• Full-time, permanent position based in Castlebar.
• Early finish on Fridays.
• 20 days annual leave plus bank holidays.
