A progressive, award-winning consulting engineering firm is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join its growing team & work from either its Galway or Limerick office. With a strong track record in low-energy, high-performance building design, this firm is recognised as a leader in BIM adoption and sustainable engineering solutions.

As a Senior Engineer, you’ll lead mechanical design delivery on projects across diverse sectors, mentor junior engineers, and play a key role in delivering innovative and sustainable solutions.

Role & Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage full mechanical design packages for projects of all sizes.
  • Ensure quality control and consistency across mechanical engineering deliverables.
  • Manage project budgets, cost control, and client expectations.
  • Supervise and mentor engineers, fostering technical excellence and collaboration.
  • Represent the business at client meetings, site surveys, and project reviews.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across Irish and international offices.
  • Provide technical leadership in water services, HVAC, heating/LTHW, fuel, drainage, and BMS systems.
  • Stay up to date with Irish Building Regulations and ensure compliance in all designs.
Candidate Requirements
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Minimum 6 years’ experience in building services consultancy design.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems and design delivery across project lifecycles.
  • Familiar with thermal modelling, dynamic energy modelling, and energy assessments (advantageous).
  • BIM and commercial project experience a strong plus.
  • Chartered Engineer (preferred) or actively pursuing chartership.
  • Excellent organisational, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Commercial awareness and client-facing ability.
