OverviewA well-established multidisciplinary engineering consultancy is seeking a
Senior Site-Based Electrical Engineer to join their site project team on a major pharmaceutical facility in
Dublin.
This is a hands-on, high-impact role suited to an experienced electrical professional who can act as a key technical point of contact on-site across
Electrical, Controls, Instrumentation, Life Safety and Special Systems, supporting projects from design through commissioning and handover within a regulated GMP environment.
The Role
You will support the site project portfolio, working closely with Project Managers, system owners, contractors, vendors and internal stakeholders to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient project execution.
Key Responsibilities - Act as on-site electrical technical lead / point person within the site Project Team
- Lead electrical input to projects including design reviews, construction support, commissioning and operational readiness
- Advise Project Managers on bid package requirements, tender expectations and technical content
- Support capture of site conditions and specific installation constraints
- Attend bid package quality and completion reviews
- Attend and support project management / pre-bid meetings
- Track progress and provide project reporting updates
- Liaise with stakeholders professionally and represent the site/project team
- Promote and uphold health & safety standards, risk assessments and safe systems of work
- Support commissioning activities, training, CQV readiness, and documentation closeout
Technical Scope (Electrical & Controls)
The role includes involvement across a broad electrical scope such as:
- Electrical power distribution, emergency systems, generators and UPS
- Lighting and emergency lighting systems
- Fire alarm, detection, CCTV, intruder alarms and security systems
- Containment and cable management
- Hazardous areas / ATEX considerations
- Earthing and bonding
- Instrumentation, controls and functional safety (where relevant)
Experience & Requirements - Qualified Electrician (FETAC accredited) with industrial experience OR Degree in Electrical Engineering / equivalent qualification
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in pharmaceutical / life sciences / manufacturing facility projects (design, construction, commissioning, or operations support)
- Strong understanding of electrical engineering codes and industry standards
- Ability to coordinate with customers, vendors and suppliers in a dynamic site environment
- Strong communication and leadership capability
- Proven problem-solving ability with a focus on project outcomes and quality delivery
- Ability to manage priorities across multiple projects and meet deadlines
Software / Tools (Advantageous)
Experience with:
- MS Office (Excel/Word/PowerPoint)
- MS Project
- AutoCAD
- SharePoint / document systems
- Building Management Systems (BMS) / SAP (advantageous)
