Senior Building Services Engineer

ProSource are working on behalf of a leading Main Building Contractor with a strong reputation for delivering large-scale, high-quality projects.

With a robust pipeline of work and continued growth, they are now seeking an experienced Senior Building Services Engineer to join their team and take a lead role on a flagship project in Dublin. Candidates with either a Mechanical or Electrical bias will be considered.

The Role

As a Senior Building Services Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the design, coordination, and delivery of all building services elements on the project. You will act as the key interface between the project team, design consultants, and supply chain partners, ensuring technical excellence, compliance, and successful project outcomes. This is a senior position with responsibility for mentoring junior engineers and contributing to the continuous improvement of project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the procurement process from equipment enquiries through requisitioning, monitoring manufacture, delivery, and installation, ensuring full traceability and compliance.
• Chair and record regular supply chain and coordination meetings, driving accountability and maintaining alignment with the master construction programme.
• Collaborate closely with the design team and subcontractors to ensure systems are fully coordinated, commissioned, and handed over to the highest standard.
• Oversee and enforce Health & Safety, Environmental, and Quality procedures, ensuring best practices and maintaining detailed compliance records.
• Partner with the Project Manager to oversee all building services aspects from pre-construction through to project closeout.
• Lead the preparation of project close-out documentation, including testing, commissioning, and handover records.
• Review training needs of site-based staff, ensuring the project workforce holds valid and relevant certifications.
• Act as a technical authority on building services matters, resolving issues proactively and ensuring client expectations are consistently exceeded.
• Mentor and support junior engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement.

Requirements

• Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Building Services Engineering (or equivalent).
• Minimum 5–7 years’ experience in a building services role within a main contractor or large subcontractor environment.
• Proven track record in managing building services on complex, high-value construction projects.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to mentor junior staff and influence project outcomes.
• Experience in testing and commissioning 
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• A proactive, solutions-focused approach with a commitment to delivering projects on time, safely, and to the highest quality.
