My client is an established and highly regarded architectural practice based in Galway, delivering a diverse portfolio of projects across the residential, civic, public-sector, commercial and community sectors.

The practice has been involved in a number of significant developments throughout Galway and the wider West of Ireland, ranging from large-scale housing schemes and mixed-use developments to civic buildings and public infrastructure.

Their recent work includes substantial social and affordable housing projects, including high-density and NZEB residential developments, as well as architect-led design teams delivering new housing schemes for local authorities. The practice has also worked on prominent civic, community and public-sector developments.

Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of projects, they are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Registered Architect to join their Galway team.
Responsibilities

• Design Development: Lead and contribute to projects from concept and planning through detailed design, tender and construction.
• Project Delivery: Take responsibility for the coordination and delivery of architectural projects, ensuring programme, quality and client requirements are achieved.
• Project Management: Manage project timelines, resources and consultant coordination across multiple live projects.
• Client Interaction: Liaise directly with private and public-sector clients, developing briefs, presenting proposals and providing updates throughout the project lifecycle.
• Technical Design: Prepare and review detailed architectural drawings, specifications, tender packages and construction documentation.
• Consultant Coordination: Work closely with structural and civil engineers, M&E consultants, quantity surveyors, contractors and other members of multidisciplinary design teams.
• Site & Construction Stage: Attend site meetings, inspect works, respond to technical queries and assist with the delivery of projects through construction and completion.
• Planning & Compliance: Manage projects through the Irish planning and Building Control processes, ensuring compliance with Building Regulations and relevant standards.
• Sustainable Design: Incorporate energy-efficient, low-carbon and sustainable design principles, particularly across residential and public-sector developments.
• Team Development: Collaborate with and provide guidance to architectural graduates, technologists and other members of the design team.

Requirements

• Professional Accreditation: Registered Architect with appropriate professional accreditation; RIAI membership is highly desirable.
• Education: Degree or Master's qualification in Architecture from an accredited institution.
• Experience: Ideally 5+ years' professional experience, with experience delivering projects through multiple RIAI work stages.
• Irish Project Experience: Strong knowledge of Irish planning requirements, Building Regulations, BCAR and construction standards.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in architectural design and documentation software. Revit experience is particularly desirable, alongside AutoCAD, SketchUp and Adobe Creative Suite.
• Project Experience: Experience in residential, public-sector, civic, commercial or similarly complex architectural projects would be advantageous.
• Technical Ability: Strong detailing, construction and technical documentation skills.
• Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the confidence to deal directly with clients, consultants and contractors.
• Problem-Solving: Strong analytical ability, attention to detail and a practical approach to resolving design and construction issues.
• Organisation: Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities within a busy architectural environment.
• Portfolio: A strong portfolio demonstrating both design ability and experience delivering built projects.
