Qualified Accountant - Laois

Our client is an established and highly regarded accountancy practice based in Laois who are looking to recruit an experienced Qualified Accountant to join the firm in either an Audit or Accounts focused role.

The Role

The successful candidate will work closely with partners and senior management and will gain direct responsibility for a portfolio of SME clients across a variety of industries including construction, manufacturing, professional services, retail and owner-managed businesses.
Depending on your preference and experience, the position can be tailored towards Audit or Accounts/Advisory.

Key Responsibilities

Audit (if audit-focused)

• Planning, managing and completing statutory audits from start to finish
• Leading audit fieldwork and coordinating junior staff
• Reviewing audit files and financial statements
• Liaising directly with clients and resolving technical queries
• Ensuring compliance with auditing and accounting standards
• Training and mentoring trainees and part-qualified accountants

Accounts / General Practice (if accounts-focused)

• Preparation and review of year-end financial statements
• Corporation tax and income tax computations
• Management accounts preparation and review
• VAT and RCT advisory and compliance
• Client meetings and advisory work
• Supporting partners with business advisory and practice development

Candidate Profile

• Qualified Accountant – ACA / ACCA
• Trained in an accountancy practice environment in Ireland or the UK
• 2+ years post-qualification experience (PQE) desirable but strong newly qualified candidates will be considered
• Experience with SME clients and owner-managed businesses
• Good working knowledge of Irish GAAP
• Strong interpersonal and client-facing skills
• Ability to manage deadlines and multiple assignments

Audit experience is desirable but not essential — candidates wishing to move from audit into a mixed/general practice role will also be considered.
