Responsibilities - Develop a comprehensive project schedule using Microsoft Project, based on the contract scope and deliverables.
- Maintain and monitor the project programme, issuing regular updates to stakeholders.
- Flag and document any delays affecting the critical path and liaise with the client to agree time extensions when necessary.
- Evaluate project budgets against pricing to ensure delivery remains cost-effective and within financial targets.
- Investigate areas of potential cost overruns, identify causes, and recommend corrective action. Liaise with the Contracts Manager on all commercial matters.
- Maintain awareness of the contract inclusions and identify project scope changes or variations. Support negotiations with the client for any additional works or costs.
- Ensure contractual notifications are issued within the required timelines as per contract conditions.
- Act as the direct line manager for the Site Agent, QS, and Project Engineer, and oversee all on-site personnel via the Site Agent.
- Review and validate monthly valuations and progress payment claims.
- Approve Risk Assessments, Method Statements, and relevant health and safety documentation prior to project commencement.
- Conduct routine quality checks and site safety inspections.
- Proactively address any design challenges, propose viable solutions, and communicate effectively with the client team.
Requirements - Prior experience managing civil engineering or infrastructure projects, ideally with exposure to utilities or road-based works.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Outlook, Word, Excel, and Microsoft Project.
- Full clean driving licence required.
- A background in civil engineering or a related discipline is strongly preferred.
