Planning & Environmental Consultant - Renewable Energy

About the company
Our client is a specialist consultancy supporting the transition to a low-carbon future. They work directly with renewable energy developers, local authorities and community groups to deliver wind, solar and energy storage projects across Ireland. From early-stage feasibility through to planning permission, they play a key role in making clean energy projects a reality. Their team is small but highly capable—and they’re looking to add a senior planner to lead client delivery in this space.

Key responsibilities
You’ll be responsible for delivering high-quality planning and environmental assessments that move projects forward. Specifically, you'll:

• Lead the preparation and submission of Environmental Impact Assessment Reports (EIARs) and planning applications
• Work closely with clients to navigate local authority processes and secure planning consent
• Advise on planning strategy, site constraints, and environmental risk from feasibility stage onwards
• Manage project timelines, consultants, and deliverables across multiple live projects
• Contribute to mentoring and developing junior staff

What we’re looking for
This is a senior position with responsibility for client delivery, so we're looking for someone with solid experience in infrastructure planning. You’ll ideally bring:

• A minimum of 5 years’ experience in planning or environmental consultancy
• Strong knowledge of Irish planning legislation and the EIA process
• Experience liaising with planning authorities and leading complex submissions
• Renewable energy experience is a strong advantage, but not essential
• Confident communicator who can work well with technical teams and stakeholders
