We are seeking an experienced and highly organised Payroll Manager to lead and manage our payroll function. This role involves end-to-end responsibility for payroll processing, compliance, systems, reporting, and team leadership. You will work closely with Finance, HR, and external partners to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant payroll operations.

The successful candidate will be a payroll-focused professional with strong technical expertise, excellent attention to detail, and proven leadership capability.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the full payroll cycle, ensuring accurate and timely processing of salaries, deductions, pensions, and other pay components.
  • Ensure compliance with all statutory requirements including tax, social insurance, pensions, and payroll-related legislation.
  • Manage payroll reporting and submissions to relevant authorities, including statutory returns and reconciliations.
  • Lead, manage, and mentor the payroll team, setting performance objectives, guiding development, and reviewing performance.
  • Provide training, support, and coaching to ensure accuracy, consistency, and adherence to best practices.
  • Maintain and optimise payroll systems and processes, including upgrades, integrations, and automation opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain payroll procedures, policies, and documentation.
  • Work closely with HR on payroll-related matters such as new hires, terminations, benefits, and changes to data.
  • Partner with Finance on payroll forecasting, budgeting, and financial reporting.
  • Act as the key payroll contact for internal queries, audits, and external stakeholders.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Significant payroll experience, ideally (3+ years in payroll leadership or management).
  • Strong technical understanding of payroll legislation, compliance, and best practice.
  • Proven experience managing or supervising a payroll team.
  • Excellent problem-solving, organisational, and communication skills.
  • Professional payroll certification (e.g. IPASS, CPP or equivalent).
  • Experience with major payroll and HRIS systems.
