Part Qualified/ Accounts Assistant

Our client, a successful and growing retail business based in Dublin, is looking to recruit a Part Qualified Accountant to join their finance team.

Reporting directly to the Company Accountant, this is an excellent opportunity for a part-qualified accountant who wants to develop their experience within a commercial environment.

You will work closely with the Company Accountant across a broad range of accounting duties, gaining valuable exposure to month-end, management accounts, reconciliations and financial reporting.

This role would suit someone coming from an accountancy practice background who is now looking to make the move into industry, or a part-qualified accountant already working in a commercial finance environment who is looking for their next step.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist the Company Accountant with the preparation of monthly management accounts.
• Prepare and post month-end journals and accruals.
• Complete balance sheet and bank reconciliations.
• Assist with month-end and year-end close processes.
• Support the preparation of financial reports and analysis.
• Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable processes where required.
• Review and reconcile supplier and customer accounts.
• Assist with VAT and other Revenue/statutory reporting.
• Support cashflow monitoring and bank reconciliations.
• Assist with the preparation of budgets and forecasts.
• Investigate variances and provide supporting analysis.
• Work closely with the wider finance and commercial teams.
• Assist the Company Accountant with ad-hoc financial projects and process improvements.

The Person

The successful candidate will ideally have:

• Part Qualified ACA, ACCA or CIMA status.
• Previous experience within an accountancy practice or commercial finance environment.
• A good understanding of fundamental accounting principles.
• Experience with reconciliations, journals and month-end processes.
• Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach.
• Good Excel skills and confidence working with financial data.
• Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
• The ability to work independently while also supporting the wider finance team.
• A genuine interest in developing their career within industry.
