Mechanical Quantity Surveyor

My client is a successful Building Services Engineering Contractor who specialise in the design and installation of all building and mechanical services including Heating, Plumbing, Ventilation, Air-Conditioning & Building Management Systems.

Due to their ongoing success and growth, they have a great opportunity for a Mechanical Quantity Surveyor to join their team in Cork 

Key Responsibilities:

• The Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for review of tender submissions with the tendering department 
• Review handover documentation between tendering department and project management team.
• Participate in pre-contract negotiations with Client, including review of contract documentation
• Conduct periodic review of work practices to identify appropriate cost saving measures
• Quantify material, plant and labour requirements for relevant projects
• Analyse sub-contractor quotations, checking inclusions and exclusions
• Negotiate prices with suppliers and sub-contractors
• Issue tender queries and prepare tender reports
• Source and categorise pre-project information
• Prepare cost reports and detailed estimates
• Review monthly payment applications with the project management team
• Support project manager in final account negotiations
• Monitor project budget & expenditure against the projected margin for duration of select projects

Requirements:

• Relevant degree or trade background
• A minimum of 5 years’ previous experience in Surveying with a main Building Services contractor
• Tendering experience with a knowledge or background in HVAC industry or similar
• Excellent communication, organisational and problem-solving skills
• Experience in pricing projects, working autonomously and within a team
• Experience working towards tight deadlines and budgets
• A clear understanding of building regulations and legal guidelines
