Mechanical Design Engineer - Galway

ProSource Group are recruiting a Mechanical Design Engineer to join a growing Building Services Consultancy based just outside Galway City. This is an opportunity to work on a wide range of prestigious and sustainable projects from hotels and sports facilities to large residential developments while advancing your technical expertise in a collaborative environment.

The Role

You’ll play a key role within the mechanical design team, contributing to the delivery of innovative and energy-efficient solutions from concept to completion. You’ll have ownership of your projects, working directly with clients and contractors while helping to develop junior engineers.

Key responsibilities include:

• Designing and specifying all mechanical building services systems (HVAC, water services, heating/cooling systems).
• Carrying out detailed design calculations using tools such as Hevacomp, IES, HAP, AutoCAD, and Revit.
• Preparing technical specifications, drawings, and reports to company standards.
• Representing the practice at client and contractor meetings.
• Conducting site surveys, inspections, and monitoring works to ensure design compliance.
• Managing project deliverables, workload, and budget costings.
• Assisting in the technical development and mentoring of junior engineers.

About You

• Degree-qualified in Mechanical or Building Services Engineering (or related discipline).
• Chartered Engineer or working towards Chartership (CIBSE or Engineers Ireland).
• Strong technical understanding of building physics and sustainable design principles.
• Proficient in digital design tools such as Hevacomp, IES, AutoCAD, Revit, and HAP.
• Ideally 4+ years experience working in a consultancy or contractor design environment.
• Excellent report writing, communication, and presentation skills.
• Ability to manage workload independently, make design decisions, and meet project deadlines.
