Junior Mechanical Engineer - Cork

ProSource Group are seeking a Junior Mechanical Design Engineer on behalf of one of Irelands leading Mechanical, Electrical, and Sustainability Consultancies to be based in its Cork office.
This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career engineer with consultancy experience who wants hands-on project exposure, strong technical development, and a clear pathway for career progression.
You’ll work on a wide range of building services projects, supporting mechanical design delivery while developing your skills in a structured, quality-driven environment.

The Role

As a Junior Mechanical Design Engineer, you will support the delivery of mechanical building services designs from concept through to construction, working closely with engineers, BIM modellers, and project teams.
Your responsibilities will include:

• Assisting with the design and specification of mechanical building services systems across a range of sectors.
• Producing calculations, schematics, and technical documentation to support project delivery.
• Supporting BIM and CAD teams in developing Revit MEP models, coordinated drawings, and scheme designs.
• Contributing to project scope development with senior engineers and design teams.
• Working to project deadlines while maintaining high standards of quality and accuracy.
• Participating in client meetings, site visits, and design team coordination as required.
• Following established environmental management systems, policies, and sustainability objectives.

This role is primarily office-based with a hybrid working model and occasional attendance at client meetings.

About You

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in mechanical building services design within a consultancy environment.
• Proficient in Revit MEP, AutoCAD, and other Autodesk applications.
• Familiarity with BIM workflows (advantageous).
• Experience or interest in commercial building projects is beneficial.
• Knowledge of mechanical systems including:
  
  • HVAC & LTHW systems
  • Water services
  • Natural gas systems
  • Above-ground drainage
  • BMS
• Awareness of CIBSE, BS, IS, EN, and IEC standards.
• Exposure to design tools such as IES is an advantage.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, presentation, and IT skills.
• A proactive team player who is eager to learn and develop professionally.
