ProSource Group are seeking a
Intermediate Mechanical Engineer on behalf of a leading building services consultancy to join their
Cork office. This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated engineer who wants to take on more responsibility, deepen their technical expertise, and progress toward senior-level leadership within a supportive, high-performing environment.
You’ll work across a range of innovative building projects supporting design delivery, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and developing your skills under the guidance of experienced senior engineers.
The Role
As an Intermediate Mechanical Engineer, you will contribute to the full mechanical design process and play an active role in delivering successful, high-quality building services projects.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Assisting in the mechanical design and coordination of projects across multiple sectors
- Supporting senior engineers in delivering mechanical design packages from concept to completion
- Preparing calculations, reports, specifications, and technical documentation
- Supporting project cost control, quality checks, and adherence to design standards
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams and liaising with clients when required
- Attending site visits, surveys, and design team meetings
- Assisting with mentoring junior engineers and contributing to team development
This role offers clear progression, with increasing autonomy as your skills evolve.
Education & Experience - Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
- 2–6 years’ experience in mechanical building services design
- Strong working knowledge of HVAC, LTHW/heating, water services, drainage & BMS systems
- Familiarity with Irish Building Regulations, particularly TGD B, F, G, L
- Proficient in Microsoft Office; experience with thermal/energy modelling tools an advantage
- BIM knowledge beneficial but not essential
- Working toward Chartership (or interest in starting) is highly encouraged
Knowledge & Skills - Ability to deliver mechanical design work through multiple stages of the project lifecycle
- Good understanding of MEP coordination and other building disciplines
- Strong technical foundation with a desire to grow into a senior engineering role
- Excellent planning, organisation, and time-management abilities
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- High attention to detail and a proactive, problem-solving mindset
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative engineering team
