OverviewA multidisciplinary consulting engineering practice is seeking an
Instrumentation & Controls Engineer (I&C Engineer) to join its Dublin office.
The successful candidate will work on a range of projects across the pharmaceutical, life sciences, industrial, commercial and process sectors, supporting projects from initial concept through detailed design, construction and handover.
This role offers excellent exposure to technically complex projects within a collaborative engineering environment.
The RoleYou will be responsible for the design and development of instrumentation, automation and control systems, working closely with project engineers, clients, contractors and suppliers to deliver high-quality technical solutions.
The role will involve both office-based design work and site-based support throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities - Develop I/O lists, instrument indexes and technical documentation
- Prepare instrumentation specifications for tender and construction packages
- Produce schematics, loop drawings and control system documentation
- Review and interpret Process P&IDs and develop instrumentation design packages
- Support development of control system architecture and automation strategies
- Assist in preparing functional specifications (FS), URS and scopes of work
- Liaise with clients, contractors, suppliers and project teams
- Carry out site surveys and technical inspections
- Provide support during construction and commissioning phases
- Assist with cost estimates, reports and contract documentation
- Ensure all work complies with relevant safety and engineering standards
- Support project delivery across multiple concurrent projects
Experience & Requirements - Degree in Electrical / Instrumentation / Automation or related discipline
- 3–5 years’ experience in instrumentation & controls design
- Experience on pharmaceutical, life sciences or industrial projects preferred
- Knowledge of bus systems such as
- Fieldbus
- Profibus
- Devicenet
- Ethernet/IP
- Understanding of DCS / PCS / PLC systems
- Ability to read and interpret process P&IDs
- Experience working with automation contractors and system vendors
- Good knowledge of Revit/AutoCAD
- Strong attention to detail and technical accuracy
- Ability to work both independently and within a multidisciplinary team
- Good communication skills and ability to interface with clients
