Health & Safety Officer - Civils

This role will suit a Health & Safety professional with 2–4 years' experience in civil engineering or construction. You should be comfortable working on live sites, supporting site teams and subcontractors, and keeping works safe and compliant from day to day.

Key Responsibilities:

• Implement and monitor the project Health & Safety management system across site operations.
• Carry out regular site inspections, audits and safety walks, and report findings with corrective actions.
• Review RAMS, method statements and risk assessments from site teams and subcontractors.
• Deliver site inductions, toolbox talks and safety briefings.
• Support traffic management and pedestrian safety on public realm and roadworks sites.
• Investigate and report incidents and near misses, and track corrective actions to close-out.
• Maintain accurate H&S records, registers, permits and inspection documentation.
• Make sure works comply with the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act and construction regulations.
• Work closely with Site Managers, Engineers and the Project Manager to promote a strong safety culture.
• Liaise with clients, consultants and local authorities on H&S matters as needed.

Requirements:

• Level 7/8 degree in Health & Safety, Civil Engineering or a related discipline (essential).
• 2–4 years' Health & Safety experience in civil engineering or construction.
• Experience on public realm, roads or transport infrastructure projects preferred.
• Good working knowledge of Irish H&S legislation and construction regulations.
• Experience reviewing RAMS and carrying out site inspections and audits.
• Strong communication skills, with the confidence to engage with site crews and subcontractors.
• Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Full Irish driving licence.
