An exciting opportunity is here for a new Head of Finance with a Construction Sector Company.

The Head of Finance will lead and oversee all financial activities of the business, providing strategic financial leadership, strong governance, and commercial insight to support sustainable growth. This role combines hands-on financial control with strategic planning and close collaboration with senior leadership.

The successful candidate will ensure robust financial management, accurate reporting, compliance with statutory obligations, and the development of financial processes aligned with the firm’s growth objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Leadership & Strategy
  • Act as a strategic financial partner to the Managing Director and senior leadership team
  • Contribute to business strategy, financial planning, and long-term growth initiatives
  • Provide commercial insight on project profitability, pricing, and resource utilisation
Financial Control & Reporting
  • Oversee the preparation of monthly management accounts, KPIs, and financial reports
  • Ensure accurate forecasting, budgeting, and cash flow management
  • Manage year-end financial statements and liaise with external auditors and advisors
  • Maintain strong internal controls and financial governance
Project & Commercial Finance
  • Monitor project financial performance, margins, and cost recovery
  • Support project teams with financial analysis, billing, and revenue recognition
  • Review WIP, accruals, and invoicing in line with contract terms
Compliance & Risk
  • Ensure compliance with Irish statutory, tax, and regulatory requirements
  • Oversee VAT, payroll, corporation tax, and statutory filings
  • Identify financial risks and implement mitigation strategies
Team Leadership & Development
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team
  • Drive continuous improvement in financial systems, processes, and reporting
  • Implement best-practice financial procedures as the business scales
Systems & Process Improvement
  • Oversee finance systems, reporting tools, and process automation
  • Improve financial visibility and reporting efficiency across the organisation

Qualifications:
  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA or equivalent)
  • Professional training gained in practice and/or industry
  • Proven experience in a senior finance role (Head of Finance / Financial Controller)
  • Experience in professional services, consultancy, construction, engineering, or project-based environments is highly desirable
  • Strong track record in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cash management
  • Strong commercial and analytical mindset
  • Excellent leadership and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to operate strategically while remaining hands-on
  • High attention to detail with strong problem-solving ability
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
