Financial Accountant

We are recruiting a Financial Accountant for a busy manufacturing business based in Longford. The successful candidate will play a key role in the finance team, providing accurate financial reporting, month-end close, and supporting operational decision-making. This is a hands-on role with exposure across all finance functions, ideal for someone looking to develop their career in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the full month-end close process (AP, AR, accruals, prepayments, journals)
• Prepare and review monthly management accounts
• Maintain and reconcile the general ledger
• Prepare VAT returns and ensure compliance with tax requirements
• Manage fixed assets register and depreciation
• Assist with annual audit and liaise with external auditors
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
• Ensure accuracy and integrity of financial data and internal controls
• Assist with process improvements and system enhancements
• Support payroll processing and related reporting (if required)

Key Requirements

• Qualified Accountant (ACA / ACCA) or part-qualified with strong experience
• Proven experience in a manufacturing or high-volume trading environment
• Strong technical accounting skills (IFRS / Irish GAAP)
• Excellent Excel skills; experience with ERP systems an advantage
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Strong communication skills and ability to interact with non-finance stakeholders
