About the company Our client is a growing Irish company specialising in the offshore industry. They design, build and deploy their own floating lidar systems and measurement platforms for developers of offshore wind farms. After a steady few years the business is now in a growth phase, and they are investing in the team that makes it all work.
About the opportunity This is a chance to take over a very capable engineering team and lead the technical side of their Limerick operation.
- Take over a skilled team that already knows its work, with a clear mandate to lead it
- Own genuinely complex systems. Some are bought in, and many are designed and built in house to run unattended at sea for years
- Have real influence in a growing business, with a direct say in engineering standards and development priorities
- Work closely with production, field operations, projects and data science, and see what you design go offshore
- Be based in a purpose built production and engineering facility in Limerick. It is a role worth considering a move for
Day to day you will:
- Lead and develop the engineering team, setting priorities, standards and accountability
- Take technical ownership of the floating lidar systems, metocean platforms, seabed frames and associated offshore measurement equipment
- Oversee the electrical and electronic architecture, including power distribution, control panels, instrumentation, telemetry and communications
- Improve reliability, modularity and maintainability so systems perform over long offshore deployments
- Set up and oversee testing, verification and acceptance of new and modified systems
- Work with suppliers on technical specifications, component selection and fabrication
- Provide senior technical support on troubleshooting and system failures, and input into tenders and future technology development
- Keep health and safety at the centre of design, testing, production and maintenance
Requirements - A degree or equivalent experience in electrical, electronic, systems, mechanical or a related discipline
- Strong practical knowledge of electrical and electronic systems, from design and integration through to fault finding
- Experience leading engineers or technical projects across more than one discipline
- Sound technical judgement, and the confidence to own engineering decisions
- A practical, hands on approach, with good organisation and communication
Helpful but not essential: marine, offshore, renewables, industrial automation or instrumentation experience. Embedded systems, data loggers or telemetry. DC power and battery storage. CAD and mechanical design. Lean or continuous improvement. Knowledge of floating lidar or oceanographic measurement.
