Company Intro / Summary
A leading engineering contractor is seeking a highly skilled Electrical Estimator to join their growing pre-construction team. With a strong pipeline of work across Ireland—including complex electrical, utility, energy and infrastructure projects—this is an excellent opportunity for an experienced estimator to join a reputable organisation delivering large-scale technical projects.

The ideal candidate will have a solid background in electrical estimating and a proven track record in preparing competitive tenders for electrical installation packages. While the role is ideally based in Waterford, Cork, or Dublin, exceptionally strong candidates outside these areas will also be considered.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the preparation of detailed electrical estimates, cost plans, and tender submissions.
  • Review drawings, specifications, and project documentation to compile accurate pricing.
  • Work closely with subcontractors and suppliers to secure competitive quotations and assess proposals.
  • Prepare bills of quantities, take-offs, scope breakdowns, and commercial assessments.
  • Analyse risks, identify value-engineering opportunities, and ensure estimates align with technical requirements.
  • Collaborate with engineering, project management, and procurement teams throughout the tender process.
  • Maintain and develop internal databases and estimating tools for improved tender accuracy.
  • Provide clear handovers to project teams post-award to ensure full understanding of pricing assumptions.
Requirements
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in an Electrical Estimator or M&E Estimator role (electrical bias essential).
  • Strong background in pricing electrical installation projects
  • Candidates with MEP/M&E experience must be able to demonstrate the electrical projects they have priced or tendered.
  • Proficiency in estimating software and strong Excel capability.
  • Solid understanding of electrical systems, construction methodologies, and industry standards.
  • Excellent analytical, numerical, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tenders and work efficiently to deadlines.
  • Based within commuting distance of Waterford, Cork, or Dublin—however, Hybrid candidates from further afield will be considered.
