Electrical Design Engineer (Data Centres) - West Dublin

ProSource Group is currently seeking a Electrical Design Engineer (Data Centres/Critical Systems) on behalf of a global consultancy. This position will be based in its on-site office (West Dublin).
You’ll be a key contributor in delivering innovative, scalable, and energy-efficient electrical design solutions for some of the most advanced and high-profile data centre projects in Ireland, Europe & beyond.
The role provides the opportunity to shape global data centre design standards while working with clients who value quality, efficiency, and sustainability.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the electrical design of mission-critical systems from conceptual stage through to handover, including power distribution, UPS, backup generation, switchgear, and earthing systems.
• Develop detailed electrical schematics, load calculations, layouts, single line diagrams, cable sizing, and protection coordination.
• Coordinate closely with mechanical, structural, fire safety, and architectural disciplines to ensure integrated, efficient design.
• Oversee design reviews, quality assurance checks, and compliance with critical standards, including data centre norms and fire / safety regulations.
• Mentor and guide junior engineers, promoting best practice in design,
  coordination, and documentation.
• Interface with clients, vendors, contractors, and regulatory bodies to drive technical solutions and manage project risk.
• Stay abreast of emerging technologies (e.g. high-efficiency UPS, modular distribution, energy optimization) and recommend innovations in electrical design.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Electrical Engineering, Building Services, or equivalent.
• 3-7 years’ experience in electrical design of data centre, mission-critical, or high availability facilities.
• Deep understanding of electrical codes and standards (IEC, EN, BS, etc.), protection & coordination, power quality, redundancy, and reliability design.
• Hands-on experience with electrical design tools (AutoCAD, Revit, ETAP, SKM, or equivalent).
• Demonstrated leadership in managing engineering design teams and
  coordinating with multi-disciplinary project stakeholders.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and client-facing skills.
• Strong analytical ability and attention to detail, with a results-driven and proactive mindset.
• Familiarity with fire safety, compliance, and risk management in data centre environments is an advantage.
