Audit - Responsible Individual

Our client is a well‑established and growing accountancy practice based in Dublin with a strong reputation for delivering high‑quality services to clients. 

The firm is experiencing continued growth and is seeking to appoint an experienced Audit Responsible Individual (RI) to strengthen its leadership team and support the ongoing expansion of the audit function.

This is a senior strategic hire offering genuine influence over the direction of the firm, the opportunity to shape the audit department, and a clear pathway to equity participation for the right candidate.
 
The Role
The successful candidate will join at Partner or Director level, depending on experience and existing RI status. You will take responsibility for signing audit reports, leading audit quality and compliance, and contributing to the strategic growth of the practice. The role combines technical audit oversight, client relationship management, team leadership, and business development.
 
Key Responsibilities

• Acting as Audit Responsible Individual and signing audit opinions
• Leading and overseeing a portfolio of statutory audit engagements across a range of sectors
• Ensuring full compliance with auditing standards, regulatory requirements, and internal quality controls
• Managing audit quality reviews and file inspections
• Developing and mentoring audit managers and senior staff
• Building and maintaining strong client relationships at senior management and board level
• Supporting firm‑wide strategy, growth initiatives, and service development
• Participating in business development activities, tenders, and networking
• Collaborating with tax and advisory teams to deliver integrated client solutions

 
Candidate Profile

• ACA / ACCA qualified with current or previous Audit RI status
• Extensive audit experience gained within a recognised accountancy practice
• Strong technical knowledge of auditing and financial reporting standards
• Proven leadership and people management experience
• Commercially minded with an interest in practice growth and client development
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• Ability to operate at Partner or senior Director level with autonomy and accountability
