Our client, a well-established electrical contracting business based in Dublin, is seeking an experienced Accountant/ Bookkeeper to take ownership of the finance function.

This is a key appointment within the business, offering the opportunity to manage the day-to-day finance operations across the main trading company and a number of smaller investment companies. Working alongside a small, close-knit office team, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth running of the finance department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the accounts department, ensuring all financial processes run efficiently.
  • Process weekly/monthly payroll, including new starters, leavers, PAYE and Benefit-in-Kind (BIK) reporting.
  • Prepare and submit VAT, PAYE and RCT returns through ROS (experience using ROS is essential).
  • Process RCT payments and ensure ongoing Revenue compliance.
  • Prepare monthly management accounts.
  • Produce year-end accounts schedules and prepare audit files for the external auditors.
  • Manage accounts payable, supplier payments and creditor reconciliations.
  • Complete bank and credit card reconciliations.
  • Liaise with external accountants, customers and suppliers.
  • Ensure the accounting system is fully reconciled and maintained at all times.
  • Complete Central Statistics Office (CSO) returns.
  • Manage administrative responsibilities including fleet management and insurance renewals.
  • Identify opportunities to improve financial processes and controls.
About You
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in a similar all-round finance role. or an experienced Accountant with good all round practice experience. 
  • Strong working knowledge of Sage 50 Accounts.
  • Strong working knowledge of Sage Micropay.
  • Essential experience using ROS for Revenue filings.
  • Excellent understanding of payroll, VAT, PAYE and RCT.
  • Experience producing management accounts and preparing year-end files.
  • Highly organised with excellent attention to detail.
  • A self-starter who can work independently, prioritise workloads and take ownership of the finance function.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to liaise confidently with internal and external stakeholders.
