My client is a Construction specialists providing solutions for use in the residential construction sector throughout Ireland and the UK. Due to continued expansion we are seeking to recruit a Procurement Manager to join their operations in Longford. Hybrid working model.

Main Purpose of the Role

Negotiating and managing the purchase of materials and services for factory production and ensuring continuity of supply for the smooth operation of manufacturing activities.

Strong communication, leadership and organizational skills are essential. The ability to work as part of a dynamic team and to appreciate the operational needs of the business is key.  

Duties
  • Developing procurement strategies and plans in collaboration with project managers and stakeholders. This includes analysing project requirements, forecasting needs, and identifying potential suppliers.
  • Identifying and evaluating potential suppliers, conducting supplier prequalification, and negotiating contracts and agreements.
  • Maintaining relationships with suppliers, monitoring their performance, and resolving any issues that may arise.
  • Conducting cost analysis and budgeting to determine the most cost-effective procurement methods. Monitoring project budgets, tracking expenses, and implementing cost-saving measures.
  • Overseeing the entire procurement process, including preparing and issuing requests for proposals (RFPs), requests for quotations (RFQs), and invitations to bid (ITBs).
  • Reviewing and evaluating bids, negotiating terms, and selecting vendors.
  • Drafting and managing contracts with suppliers, ensuring compliance with legal and contractual obligations.
  • Monitoring contract performance, handling disputes or changes, and managing contract renewals or terminations.
  • Identifying and assessing procurement risks, implementing risk mitigation strategies, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and industry standards.
  • Monitoring market conditions and industry trends to anticipate potential risks and opportunities.
Requirements
  • 3+ years of experience in a buyer / procurement role or similar position.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and purchasing software.
  • Excellent communication and negotiating skills
  • Experience in manufacturing/engineering sector an advantage but not essential
