Senior Estimator

Role Overview
Our client is a leading and established HVAC subcontractor based in New York City, known for delivering high-performance mechanical solutions across a wide range of commercial, institutional, and residential projects. With active work in all five boroughs of NYC, they are seeking a Senior Estimator with strong mechanical estimating experience to lead preconstruction efforts and support the acquisition of new work.

Your main duties will include, but not be limited to:

• Preparing detailed cost estimates for HVAC systems across various project types, including new construction, fit-outs, and system replacements.
• Performing thorough quantity take-offs and scope analysis from plans and specifications.
• Soliciting and evaluating vendor/supplier quotes and subcontractor pricing.
• Leading bid submissions and ensuring all preconstruction deliverables are complete and accurate.
• Working closely with project managers, engineers, and clients to align budgets with design intent and system requirements.
• Supporting value engineering efforts and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
• Maintaining organized estimating documentation, historical pricing data, and proposal records.

To be successful in your application, you will possess the following:

• 5+ years of HVAC estimating experience with a subcontractor or MEP firm.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, ductwork, piping, and equipment.
• Familiarity with NYC construction practices and local code requirements.
• Proficiency with estimating software such as Trimble, FastDUCT, QuoteSoft, PlanSwift, or similar tools.
• Ability to interpret construction drawings, mechanical plans, and technical specifications.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and time management skills.
• A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field is preferred but not essential.
