HVAC Project Manager (Commerical / Retail / Healthcare)

Role Overview

A well-established mechanical contractor based in Suffolk County is seeking a Project Manager / Senior Project Manager to join their team, delivering HVAC and mechanical projects across Long Island and the Queens / Brooklyn / Manhattan corridor.

This is an active requirement with a long-standing contractor that has a strong pipeline of work and the ability to hire quickly for the right candidate. The position would suit someone with solid mechanical project management experience who is comfortable taking ownership of projects from start to finish.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage HVAC / mechanical projects from pre-construction through completion
• Coordinate subcontractors, vendors, consultants, and client stakeholders
• Lead project meetings and maintain strong client-facing relationships
• Oversee project schedules, budgets, procurement, and overall project performance
• Manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, closeout documentation, and reporting
• Work closely with field teams, foremen, superintendents, and ownership
• Resolve project issues in real time to keep projects moving
• Ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to a high standard

Requirements

• Project Manager or Senior Project Manager experience within HVAC / mechanical contracting
• Strong understanding of mechanical systems and field coordination
• Proven track record delivering mechanical projects successfully
• Ability to manage budgets, schedules, documentation, subcontractors, and client relationships
• Strong communication skills with both internal and external stakeholders
• Stable work history preferred
• Self-motivated, proactive, and able to take ownership of projects
• Experience across healthcare, commercial, retail, education, residential, or public work welcomed
• Comfortable operating independently in a fast-moving environment

Project Experience

• HVAC / mechanical project experience required
• Projects typically range from under $1M up to $5M
• Experience across commercial, healthcare, retail, institutional, or mixed-use projects desirable
• Ability to manage multiple projects or complex scopes simultaneously beneficial

• Company based in Suffolk County
• Projects across Long Island and the Queens / Brooklyn / Manhattan corridor
• Candidates based in Suffolk, Nassau, Queens, Brooklyn, Manhattan, or surrounding areas preferred

Compensation & Benefits

• Base Salary: $150k - $250k DOE
• Benefits package included
