Estimator / Buyout Coordinator (Bronx, NY / General Contractor)

Role Overview
A general contractor is seeking an Estimator / Buyout Coordinator to join its office-based team in the Bronx, supporting ground-up residential and affordable-housing projects typically valued between $10m and $20m.

The role combines estimating with subcontractor procurement and buyout. You will prepare cost estimates, evaluate trade pricing and help secure complete, competitive subcontract packages before handing them over to the project team.

Key Responsibilities

• Review drawings, specifications and bid documents to establish project and trade scopes.
• Prepare quantity take-offs and detailed construction cost estimates.
• Obtain subcontractor and supplier quotations and follow up on outstanding pricing.
• Compare bids and level scopes, identifying exclusions, gaps and qualifications.
• Coordinate subcontractor buyout and support pricing negotiations.
• Prepare scope summaries and procurement records for subcontract agreements.
• Identify cost risks and value-engineering opportunities.
• Maintain estimating records, bid comparisons and buyout schedules.
• Communicate pricing, scope commitments and outstanding items to the project team.

Requirements

• Minimum of three years of relevant construction estimating experience.
• Experience with subcontractor pricing, bid levelling and procurement or buyout.
• Ability to read construction drawings and specifications.
• Strong understanding of trade scopes and construction costs.
• Good analytical, organisational and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines and maintain accurate records.
• Able to work fully office-based in the Bronx.
• Residential and affordable-housing experience is preferred, but not essential.

Compensation & Benefits

• Base salary of $110,000–$130,000, depending on experience.
