Role Overview
Our client is a well-established mechanical contractor based in the New York area, delivering HVAC construction, equipment installation, and service projects across commercial, institutional, and mission-critical facilities. Due to continued growth and a strong project pipeline, they are seeking an experienced Estimator to join their preconstruction team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented professional with HVAC estimating experience who enjoys working closely with project managers, engineers, and vendors to deliver competitive bids and support the successful delivery of complex mechanical projects.

Your main duties will include, but not be limited to:

• Preparing detailed cost estimates for HVAC systems including ductwork, piping, equipment, and associated mechanical components.
• Reviewing construction drawings, specifications, and bid documents to identify scope requirements, risks, and potential value engineering opportunities.
• Performing accurate material and labor takeoffs while applying union labor rates and productivity factors where applicable.
• Soliciting, reviewing, and leveling subcontractor and vendor pricing to develop competitive bid packages.
• Coordinating with project managers, engineers, and design teams to clarify scope and ensure complete proposals.
• Supporting bid strategy and proposal preparation for commercial and institutional HVAC projects.
• Maintaining organized documentation of estimates, bid packages, and historical cost data for future reference.

To be successful in your application, you will possess the following:

• 3–7+ years of estimating experience within mechanical or HVAC construction.
• Strong understanding of commercial HVAC systems including air handling units, rooftop units, VRF systems, piping, and ductwork.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, specifications, and construction documents.
• Experience preparing detailed takeoffs and coordinating with vendors and subcontractors.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Proficiency with estimating tools, spreadsheets, and construction software.
