Drafter

Role Overview:
Our client is a reputable and fast-growing Steel Subcontractor based in the NYC area, specializing in commercial and infrastructure projects in collaboration with leading General Contractors. With a strong reputation for delivering high-quality steel detailing and fabrication packages, they are seeking a Senior Drafter with a background in structural steel to join their technical team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to work on complex, high-impact projects and take ownership of drafting operations in a dynamic and collaborative environment.

Your main duties will include, but not be limited to:

• Producing detailed fabrication and erection drawings for structural and miscellaneous steel components.
• Interpreting architectural and structural drawings to develop accurate 3D models using industry-standard software.
• Coordinating closely with project managers, engineers, fabricators, and site teams to ensure drafting aligns with project specifications and timelines.
• Reviewing and redlining drawings as needed to meet project revisions and updates.
• Ensuring all drawings comply with relevant codes, standards, and client requirements.
• Supporting submittal and approval processes through detailed and organized drawing packages.
• Assisting in the coordination of clash detection and constructability reviews using BIM tools where applicable.

To be successful in your application, you will possess the following:

• A minimum of 3 years of drafting experience within the steel or structural subcontracting industry.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and 3D modeling software such as Tekla Structures or Advance Steel (preferred).
• Strong knowledge of steel detailing, shop drawings, and fabrication processes.
• Ability to read and interpret structural and architectural plans.
• Excellent attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills.
• Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate across departments.
• Experience working on commercial or infrastructure projects is an advantage.
• Associate’s degree or certification in Drafting, Engineering Technology, or related field (preferred).
