Assistant Superintendent (NYC / General Contractor)

Role Overview
An established general contractor is seeking an Assistant Superintendent to support the delivery of commercial interior fit-out projects in New York City.
Reporting to the Lead Superintendent, you will help coordinate daily site operations, subcontractors, work sequencing, safety and quality. This fully site-based position offers the opportunity to develop your field leadership skills while working closely with an experienced Superintendent.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist the Lead Superintendent with daily site operations and subcontractor coordination.
• Monitor progress against schedules and support short-term look-ahead planning.
• Coordinate deliveries, materials and site logistics.
• Review drawings and specifications to support accurate installation and resolve field issues.
• Monitor workmanship and maintain quality standards throughout construction.
• Support site safety procedures and maintain an organised working environment.
• Maintain daily reports, progress records and clear communication with the project team.
• Assist with inspections, punch lists and project closeout.

Requirements

• Minimum of two years of relevant construction field experience.
• Previous exposure to commercial interior fit-out projects.
• Ability to read construction drawings and understand trade sequencing.
• Strong communication, organisation and problem-solving skills.
• Comfortable coordinating subcontractors and working closely with a Lead Superintendent.
• Able to work fully on site in New York City.

Compensation & Benefits

• Base salary of $100,000–$120,000, depending on experience.
