Assistant Project Manager (Midtown Manhattan | Mechanical Contractor)

Role Overview:

We are looking for an Assistant Project Manager to join a fast-growing mechanical contractor based in Midtown Manhattan.

The role will support the delivery of major HVAC and infrastructure projects across New York, working across both the technical and commercial side of mechanical construction.

The company specializes in HVAC installations for new construction and major infrastructure upgrades, with project scope including chillers, boilers, cooling towers, piping and Building Management Systems.

This is a long-term hire within a growing business and would suit someone with 3+ years mechanical construction experience looking to take on greater responsibility across project delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supporting HVAC projects from preconstruction through installation, commissioning and closeout.
• Reviewing mechanical drawings, specifications, equipment schedules and project documentation.
• Coordinating major HVAC equipment including chillers, boilers, cooling towers and BMS/controls.
• Managing RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, equipment releases and change-order documentation.
• Tracking procurement, project costs, schedules and material/equipment deliveries.
• Coordinating with Project Managers, field teams, engineers, vendors and subcontractors throughout project delivery.

Requirements:

• 3+ years’ experience within commercial HVAC or mechanical construction.
• Strong understanding of HVAC equipment, piping and mechanical systems.
• Ability to read mechanical drawings, specifications and equipment schedules.
• Experience with RFIs, submittals, procurement, scheduling and project documentation.

Compensation & Benefits:

• $85k–$120k Depending on Experience
