Role Overview We are supporting a specialist concrete contractor, in their search for an Assistant Project Manager to support the delivery of large-scale construction projects across Brooklyn and Queens.
This role will work closely with experienced Project Managers, assisting with the coordination, administration, and day-to-day management of concrete construction projects from preconstruction through completion.
The position would suit an ambitious Assistant Project Manager, Project Engineer, or construction professional looking to develop their career with a busy concrete contractor working on major projects across New York City.
Your main duties will include, but not be limited to: - Assist Project Managers with the day-to-day coordination and administration of large-scale concrete construction projects.
- Support project planning, scheduling, documentation, procurement, and subcontractor coordination.
- Review drawings, specifications, RFIs, submittals, change orders, and project documentation.
- Coordinate with field teams, superintendents, subcontractors, vendors, and project stakeholders.
- Track project progress, outstanding items, material deliveries, and key project milestones.
- Assist with preparing meeting minutes, project reports, schedules, and internal updates.
- Support the management of project budgets, cost tracking, change orders, and billing documentation.
- Help ensure work is completed in line with project drawings, specifications, safety standards, and quality expectations.
- Attend project meetings and assist with follow-up actions, documentation, and communication.
- Work closely with Project Managers to resolve project issues and keep work progressing on site.
To be successful in your application, you will possess the following: - 2+ years of experience in construction project coordination, project engineering, or assistant project management.
- Experience working with a concrete contractor, structural contractor, general contractor, or subcontractor environment preferred.
- Strong understanding of construction documentation including drawings, specifications, RFIs, submittals, and change orders.
- Exposure to concrete, structural, foundations, superstructure, or heavy construction projects would be highly beneficial.
- Ability to support multiple project priorities in a fast-paced construction environment.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to coordinate with field teams, subcontractors, vendors, and clients.
- Good organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with Procore, Bluebeam, or similar construction software is advantageous.
- Eagerness to learn, take ownership, and develop into a Project Manager over time.
