Assistant Mechanical Project Manager - Manhattan, NY

Role Overview

We are working with a growing Mechanical Contractor based in Midtown Manhattan seeking an experienced Assistant Project Manager to join its team.

The successful candidate will support the delivery of commercial HVAC installations and major infrastructure upgrades throughout NYC, including projects involving chillers, boilers, cooling towers, piping and Building Management Systems (BMS).

The position would suit someone with 3+ years of mechanical construction experience looking to take on greater project responsibility. Candidates operating at Project Manager level will also be considered.

Key Responsibilities

• Support mechanical projects from preconstruction through installation, commissioning and closeout.
• Review mechanical drawings, specifications and equipment schedules.
• Coordinate HVAC equipment, piping, controls and subcontractor activities.
• Manage RFIs, submittals, shop drawings and change orders.
• Track procurement, project costs, schedules and equipment deliveries.
• Coordinate with Project Managers, field teams, engineers and vendors.

Background & Experience

• 3+ years of commercial HVAC or mechanical construction experience.
• Strong understanding of HVAC equipment, piping and mechanical systems.
• Ability to interpret mechanical drawings, specifications and equipment schedules.
• Experience with RFIs, submittals, procurement and project documentation.
• Previous experience supporting commercial HVAC installations or infrastructure upgrades.

Compensation & Benefits

• $85K-$130K, depending on experience.
