Assistant Controller

Role Overview
We are seeking an Assistant Controller to support financial operations for a leading union HVAC contractor. This is a key accounting role responsible for supporting job cost management, reporting, compliance, and financial accuracy across large mechanical projects.

This role suits someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and has experience within construction or mechanical contracting.

Your main duties will include:

• Managing accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and job cost accounting.
• Assisting with month-end close, forecasting, and financial reporting.
• Reviewing cost codes, labor reports, and union-related billing.
• Supporting audits, insurance compliance, and financial documentation.
• Working closely with project managers to track budgets, change orders, and cost impacts.

To be successful, you will possess:

• 5+ years of construction accounting experience (mechanical/HVAC preferred).
• Strong knowledge of job costing, WIP reports, and financial controls.
• Experience working with union payroll and labor reporting.
• Strong Excel skills and accounting software proficiency.
