Financial Controller - Construction sector

ProSource Finance are pleased to be working with an Engineering company based in Co. Mayo, seeking a Financial Controller to join their team. 

This new role will presents an exciting opportunity for the successful candidate to join a growing business.  Hybrid working is supported and you will be reporting directly to the Directors.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in finance and accounting, with the ability to provide strategic financial guidance to support the company's growth objectives

Your responsibilities will include:

1. Financial Planning and Analysis:
   
   • Develop and maintain financial models to support budgeting, forecasting, and long-term planning.
   • Provide insightful analysis of financial performance, highlighting key trends and areas for improvement.
   • Collaborate with department heads to create and monitor departmental budgets.
2. Financial Reporting:
   
   • Prepare accurate and timely financial statements in accordance with Irish accounting standards.
   • Coordinate with external auditors for annual audits and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
   • Produce monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for management review.
3. Cash Management:
   
   • Monitor cash flow and liquidity to optimize working capital.
   • Implement effective cash management strategies to ensure the company's financial stability.
   • Oversee banking relationships and negotiate terms to optimize financial arrangements.
4. Cost Control:
   
   • Implement and monitor cost control measures to improve operational efficiency.
   • Analyse cost variances and recommend corrective actions as needed.
5. Financial Controls:
   
   • Develop and maintain a robust system of internal controls to safeguard company assets.
   • Ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures.
   • Identify and mitigate financial risks.
6. Strategic Financial Guidance:
   
   • Work closely with the executive team to provide financial insights for strategic decision-making.
   • Evaluate investment opportunities and assess their financial impact.
7. Team Management:
   
   • Lead and develop the finance team, providing guidance and fostering a collaborative work environment.
   • Conduct performance reviews and identify opportunities for professional development.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field;
• ACA, ACCA, CPA or CIMA qualification.
• Proven experience as a Financial Controller or in a similar financial management role in Ireland.
• Knowledge of the Construction / Electrical Engineering sectors is desirable.
• Strong understanding of financial regulations and accounting principles.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Proficient in financial software and ERP systems.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
